CT DPH asbestos licensure overview: Asbestos Consultants and Contractors. Forms: Forms and Applications.
Who must be licensed
All asbestos contractors and asbestos consultants must be licensed by CT DPH. Consultant disciplines include Inspector, Management Planner, Project Designer, and Project Monitor. Project Monitors conduct post-abatement re-occupancy clearance inspections and final air clearance testing following every abatement project. Abatement involving more than 3 linear or 3 square feet must be conducted by a licensed asbestos contractor using certified supervisors and workers. Source: DPH licensure page.
Notification before work
Asbestos Abatement Notification to DPH is required for abatement involving more than 10 linear feet or more than 25 square feet of ACM; instructions state the form must be postmarked or hand-delivered at least 10 days prior to the start of abatement (emergency rules differ). Demolition notification forms apply in specified low/no-ACM cases. Source: DPH Forms and DPH notification instructions PDF.
