Who must be licensed

Notification before removal

File AQ-04 (ANF-001) asbestos removal notification through MassDEP eDEP at least 10 working days before starting asbestos removal/abatement. DLS requires the licensed asbestos abatement contractor to notify. Source: File an AQ 04 notification.

Homeowner / survey notes (MassDEP)

MassDEP FAQ states the only time an asbestos survey before demolition/renovation is not required is when homeowners do the work themselves on non-friable ACM at their single-family, owner-occupied home. Source: MassDEP asbestos FAQ (PDF). Notification exemptions for certain owner-occupied single-family non-friable work are described in 310 CMR 7.15. Source: 310 CMR 7.15.
